Tips to Minimise Christmas Stress

November 18th, 2011 -

As the festive season fast approaches it seems inevitable that your stress levels will increase. This doesn’t need to be the case! Here are some tips to help you have a stress free Christmas:

Don’t overspend
It is easy to get carried away by the spirit of the season and spend more than you intended. By setting a budget and sticking to it you will save yourself stress – not only at Christmas but also for the rest of the year. For more tips to avoid overspending go to http://sorted.org.nz/home

Buy throughout the year
A little planning can go a long way. By shopping for Christmas throughout the year you can take advantage of sales and special offers as well as spreading the cost.

Have a homemade Christmas
When you look back at past Christmases it is more likely that you recall who or where you spent Christmas that year rather than what gifts you received. So why not give handmade gifts that you can personalise rather than a generic (and more expensive) gift ‘off the shelf’. A quick search on the internet will bring up thousands of ideas.

Save for Christmas
Just a few dollars saved each week can make a big difference at the end of the year. Many of us endeavour to save for Christmas but often fail. A NZCU Baywide Christmas Saver account makes saving for Christmas easier. Just asked NZCU Baywide Christmas Savers – after saving a bit each week throughout the year, they now have their share of $1.7million in Christmas savings to make this Christmas stress free and extra special for their families.
