NZCU Baywide December Newsletter

December 6th, 2011 -

Gavin Earle

This year over $1.7million has been accumulated by members in their Christmas-saver account, which will help many families enjoy a stress-free Christmas! If you don’t already have one of these accounts, now is a good time to set this up for next year – saving as little as $10 per week will give you over $500 for your Christmas next year.

At this time of year it is easy to get carried away and to put yourself under financial pressure. Please be careful and remember that the NZCU Baywide team is here to assist you with any banking, saving or lending queries. They can also help you to plan ahead and be prepared for an even better Christmas next year.

On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff at Baywide I would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy Christmas and all the very best for 2012.

Christmas branch hours
It is business as usual at NZCU Baywide branches. All branches will be closed on the statutory holidays but will keep normal hours outside of these days* so we will be available to assist you with your banking needs.
Note: Thursday late night hours will vary from branch to branch so please check with your branch.
*excluding the Palmerston North and Wanganui hospital branches, which will close during the Christmas/New Year period and will reopen mid January.

Avoid the stress next Christmas
If you are starting to feel the financial stress of Christmas already then perhaps you should consider opening a NZCU Baywide’s Christmas Saver for next Christmas. Just a few dollars saved each week can make a big difference at the end of the year. A NZCU Baywide Christmas Saver account makes saving for Christmas easier. Just ask NZCU Baywide Christmas Savers – after saving a bit each week throughout the year, they now have over $1.7million to make this Christmas stress free and extra special for their families.

Get the thumbs up!

Thumbs up this summer
This time of year can be very busy and stressful especially on your pocket. Before you go shopping for that new car, bbq, outdoor furniture or new appliance – come in to see your friendly lending consultant at NZCU Baywide to organise a pre-approved loan. With a pre-approved loan you can plan your spending to fit your budget (and the power to negotiate a price for cash!) And if you take a loan out before 27 January 2012 you will go in the draw to win an iPad2*.

How to avoid dumb debt
The Commission for Financial Literacy and Retirement Income is running a campaign this ‘silly season’ to help people avoid getting into ‘dumb debt’. When does debt get dumb? Mostly when you’re paying high interest that could easily be avoided. What can you do about it? With a little knowledge and planning you can give it the flick and save yourself a pretty penny. New look Gisborne branch

Spot the branch
There is no missing the three NZCU Baywide branches of Gisborne, Wairoa and Masterton, who are all sporting the bright new orange look.
