NZCU Baywide members will be able to get up close with the Black Sticks Men’s and Women’s hockey teams as they strive for gold at next year’s London Olympics.

NZCU Baywide has joined 22 other businesses as the major sponsors of the Black Sticks. The collective sponsorship will see the two national teams being called the Hawke’s Bay Black Sticks.

NZCU Baywide chief executive Gavin Earle said the sponsorship was exciting for the credit union and it would look to promote it through its 14 branch network.
“Although the teams will be branded Hawke’s Bay, the NZCU Baywide brand will also get exposure on playing kits and we will have promotions throughout our branch network.
“We want all our members to get behind the Black Sticks as they are go for gold at the London Olympics,” Mr Earle said.

He said NZCU Baywide members can look forward to promotions with the Black Sticks leading up to the Olympics.

The unique sponsorship agreement is the brainchild of Vector Arena co-owner and the man behind the phenomenally successful ‘Walking with the Dinosaurs’, Bruce Mactaggart.

Businesses supporting include nationwide in-home childcare PORSE, construction firm Gemco, marketing and pr firm Attn! marketing pr, transportable building firm Cottages NZ, Port of Napier and New Zealand’s largest credit union NZCU Baywide.  The list dubbed the “Hawke’s Bay Leaders Circle” also includes Tumu Timbers, Hastings Pak’n Save, Big Save, Lowe Corporation, NZ Entertainment and Events Corporation, Unison, Selini, Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated, Furnware, Tremains, Colliers, Hastings Health Centre, Farmlands, Mackersey Developments along with Rebecca Turner and Lyn Williams, Rod Drury and Claire Vogtherr and Neil Pulford.
